Underpinning the company’s ethos is a passionate belief that there are not only economic but also important social, cultural and environmental benefits to be gained from making good use of and adding value to our native timber resource.

These include:
• local work for local people
• import substitution and income generation and retention within the local economy
• retention and development of local skills and traditions
• valuing the native timber resource, thus encouraging the planting and good management of broadleaved woodlands and stands of other useful timbers such as Douglas Fir and Larch
• valuing regional identity and local bio-diversity
• reducing ‘wood miles’ and in so doing reducing our carbon footprint
• promoting a ‘chain of custody’ from raw material to finished product that brings producers, customers and communities into a meaningful relationship with each and with our Scottish timber resource
